It’s happening! We have brought together memories of an eye-opening experience, a passion to help those in the greatest need and the desire to make a difference to the country which has been so kind to us. The event is called Cheer for Fukushima and you are all invited! This blog will provide you with our thoughts about the event as we gear up to the big event on Sunday May 24th 2015.

What a whirlwind experience the last few months have been. An idea which kept on growing has now become a charity event which has its own logo, website, an array of talented performers, a team of more than 30 dedicated volunteers, local sponsors and even a mascot, Mirai-chan!

We are seven weeks away from the event and we find ourselves deep in preparation. Regular meetings with local sponsors continue to take place to raise the profile of the event whilst discussions between all those involved about perfecting the day’s festivities are in full swing. We have finalised our performers list and will be proud to welcome an array of the best talent in Tottori.

The main event on the day will see everyone gather together, wave their handmade Mirai-chan fans and ‘Cheer for Fukushima’. We wanted to create a special moment that everyone attending will remember forever. When we cheer, we will cheer not only for those at Iwaki Ikueisha, but for everyone who was affected by the events of March 11th 2011. The ‘cheer’ will convey feelings of positivity, support, togetherness, encouragement and comfort.

As an international themed charity event we never intended it to be restricted to just Tottori and Japan. By designing a handmade fan we want all of you to get involved and be a part of the festivities. Mirai-chan is available to download here and by making your fan, taking a selfie and sharing on social media with a link to the donation page you are making a difference to thousands of lives. We hope that this will encourage you and more people to donate as we attempt to reach our goal.

That’s it for this week’s blog.

Best regards,

Matt
